IP Man

Ip Man (traditional Chinese: 葉問; simplified Chinese: 叶问; pinyin: Yè Wèn; Cantonese Yale: Yip Man) is a 2008 Hong Kong martial arts biopic that is based on the life of Yip Man, the martial arts master of Bruce Lee, and the first to teach the Chinese martial art of Wing Chun openly. The film focuses on events surrounding Yip that took place in Foshan between the 1930s to 1940s during the Japanese occupation of China.

Directed by Wilson Yip, the film stars Donnie Yen as Yip Man and features fight choreography by Sammo Hung. Yip Man's two sons and several Wing Chun practitioners also appear in the film. Ip Chun, Yip Man's eldest son served as a consultant for the film.

Ip Man is the first film to be based on the life of the martial artist. After a first attempt to portray Yip Man's life on screen went into development hell, producer Raymond Wong developed his own project with full consent from Yip Man's sons, and had filmmakers head to Foshan, to research Master Yip's life.

From March to August 2008, filming took place in Shanghai, which was used to architecturally recreate Foshan. Wong Kar-wai had planned his own Yip Man biopic, The Great Master (一代宗师), a film that has been in development hell for several years. During the filming of Ip Man, conflict arose between producers over the film's title, as Ip Man was originally titled Grandmaster Yip Man (一代宗师葉問), which bears a resemblance to Wong Kar-wai's film title. To settle the dispute, filmmakers decided to use their recent title.

Ip Man was released in Hong Kong on December 18, 2008, becoming a box-office hit in Asia alone, and receiving widespread acclaim from both critics and audiences. The film was also released in New Zealand at selected Skycity Cinemas on December 18, 2008 and was the first country to release it due to time zone differences.

Mountainous principaliy in the Pyreness,Andorra

The Principality of Andorra which is located to the north of Barcelona and is sandwiched between the borders of Spain and France. It covers 464 square kms and is ruled jointly by Spain and France. The Bishop of the nearby province of La Seu d’Urgell represents the Spanish interest whilst the President of France in his title of Count of Foix rules for France. This joint control came about in a Treaty signed between the two countries in 1278. In 1419 the local inhabitants were allowed to create their own parliament which has politically successfully avoided being involved in any war since that year. However, this peaceful record was nearly broken in 1934 when a Russian Count announced himself to be the King Boris I of Andorra and declared war on the joint ruler, the Bishop at La Seu d’Urgell. The Bishop calmly sent for armed representatives of Spain to give support. This force turned out to be four soldiers of the Guardia Civil who proceeded to the Count’s residence and placed him under arrest. The Count was promptly escorted to Barcelona and then subsequently out of Spain. The attempted coup lasted but just two weeks!

Caldea Spa

The population is in the region of 65,000 and most of them live in the main town which consists of the old part named Andorra la Vella and the new commercial section named Les Escaldes. As it is a Tax Free haven in Europe the shops tend to stock popular branded named items and often at interesting prices. The country of Andorra consists of many deep valleys and mountain slopes, of which many still have old charming stone built dwellings. It is an excellent location for walkers during the summer and then fills up in the winter with skiers. There are four Ski areas of note; Arinsal, Massana, Pas de la Casa and Soldeu. The slopes present ideal holidays for families but are of little interest for the more advanced skier. For those skiers wishing to vary their ski areas it is recommended that they stay in the main town as it is easy to reach each area from this central location. Due to the popularity as a location for reasonably priced winter holidays many small farmhouses in the various valleys have been converted into restaurants serving recommendable traditional regional food.

Beauty Of Algiers

City of Algiers
Algiers (Arabic: الجزائر‎ al-Jazā’ir, Algerian Arabic: Dzayer ([dzæjer] (From kabyle pronunciation[verification needed]), Kabyle: Dzayer [ldzæjər] or Dzayer tamaneγt, French: Alger [ɑlʒe]) is the capital and largest city of Algeria, and the second largest city in the Maghreb (after Casablanca). According to the 2005 census, the population of the city proper was 1,519,570; for the urban area was 2,135,630; for the metropolitan area 3,518,083.

Nicknamed El-Bahdja (البهجة) or Alger la Blanche ("Algiers the White") for the glistening white of its buildings as seen rising up from the sea, Algiers is situated on the west side of a bay of the Mediterranean Sea. The city name is derived from the Arabic word al-jazā’ir, which translates as the islands, referring to the four islands which lay off the city's coast until becoming part of the mainland in 1525. Al-jazā’ir is itself a truncated form of the city's older name jazā’ir banī mazghannā, "the islands of (the tribe) Bani Mazghanna", used by early medieval geographers such as al-Idrisi and Yaqut al-Hamawi. Algiers is the only Algerian city with an English name different from its French name. The city is consistently ranked one of the least liveable capitals in the world.

The modern part of the city is built on the level ground by the seashore; the old part, the ancient city of the deys, climbs the steep hill behind the modern town and is crowned by the casbah or citadel, 400 feet (122 m) above the sea. The casbah and the two quays form a triangle.
